The North American Association for Critical Animal Studies (NAACAS), inspired by its sister society The European Association for Critical Animal Studies (EACAS), is a society that will hold a biennial meeting for critical, anti-speciesist research in human-animal relations. While EACAS meets in odd numbered years, NAACAS will meet in even numbered years, to allow for cross-pollination between the societies. Founded in 2019, the first meeting of NAACAS was postponed due to the pandemic until August 2022 when it held its first hybrid meeting in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
In addition to hosting biannual meetings, NAACAS hosts an online conversation series: “Conversations on Research at the Intersections of Animality.” See more about this series below or click on the link at the upper right hand corner of this page to access the videos in the series.
